MOTION: Purchase of 3 Year Support Contract for Nutanix Hyperconverged Storage Infrastructure via CarahSoft GSA Schedule 70 Contract for $124,000 MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATION: Approve

FISCAL IMPACT: Switching to Nutanix support away from direct vendor support from Dell saves the ITS department $74,834 over a 3 year timeframe.

WHAT ACTION ACCOMPLISHES:  Saves the City $74,834 over three years and continues support of core IT storage system.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The City of Fort Myers ITS department currently pays Dell $66,278 annually for support of the City's core Hyperconverged Storage Infrastructure. This technology allows for storage load balancing and fail-over as well as a common administrator interface for all drives and servers within our Nutanix nodes.

 

Dell sourced the Nutanix HCI hardware and the City purchased it under a Dell contract. The support of that contract is now up for renewal and Dell has quoted the City $66,278 per year for continued support.

 

City of Fort Myers ITS staff requested a quote from one of our reseller partners, AlturnaTech for a support contract through the GSA Schedule 70 supplier CarahSoft for support of the Nutanix systems the City owns. The cost of $124,000 over 3 years is a substantial savings to the City compared to the $66,278 per year from Dell.

 

The State of Florida has authorized Florida agencies to utilize GSA IT Schedule 70 contracts through the use of Alternate Contract Sourcing. All Products and Services available under Carahsoft GSA Contract GS-35F-0119Y are available via this contract.
