MOTION: Approve selection of 2 firms by the Competitive Negotiations Committee for Request for Qualifications No. 0008-19, Marine Engineering Services – Continuing Contract, authorize staff to negotiate hourly rates and independent costs for a contract period of 5 years, and authorize Mayor and City Manager to execute the Professional Service Agreements upon receipt from each firm as follows: Blot Engineering, Inc. and Hans Wilson & Associates, Inc. MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATION: Approve

WHAT ACTION ACCOMPLISHES:  Authorizes negotiations with qualified firms to provide Marine Engineering Services on an as needed basis.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Requests for Qualification Statements were solicited on behalf of the City of Fort Myers for Marine Engineering Services-Continuing Contract, by the Purchasing & Contracts Administration Division.

 

The deadline for receipt of the Qualification Statement was February 22, 2019.  A total of two (2) submittals were received by the established deadline date.  The firms were as follows:

 

  • Blot Engineering, Inc.

  • Hans Wilson & Associates, Inc.

 

The Selection Committee, consisting of three (3) voting members met on April 9, 2019.  The voting members were Nicole Monahan, City Engineer, Richard Thompson, Stormwater Resource Manager and Thaddeus Boston, Grants & Contracts Specialist.

 

On the basis of information submitted in their Qualification Statement the Committee voted unanimously and recommend to the City Council the selection of both firms based on the volume of work anticipated over the upcoming contract period.

 

Selected firms will be responsible for providing complete Marine Engineering Services for a wide range of projects as may be required by the City of Fort Myers.
